WELCOME! The Benedictine and Mercy Sisters at Hesychia are happy you are visiting our website.
The Benedictine charism of prayer and work, as lived by the Sisters of St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith, is very similar to that of the Foundress of the Religious Sisters of Mercy, Catherine McAuley. Her focus in 1827 was on contemplative action. It is one synergy that is very similar to what St. Benedict was about.
The Hesychia House of Prayer Sisters invites you to come away and experience God on retreat, or on sabbatical, in the quiet and solitude of your own cabin-hermitage, surrounded by the Ozark mountains. If you are searching for God, come seek the Holy with us. The Hesychia House of Prayer Hermitage retreats are self-guided, with the Sisters available for spiritual direction-companioning if desired. All faiths (ecumenical) are welcome.
In our fast paced world, Hesychia offers a sacred place needed, perhaps more than ever, to encounter God and receive the peace, clarity, love, and healing that God offers. Our neighbors who surround Hesychia continue to be a significant part of our daily lives and contribute to the well-being of this ministry. In addition, we are blessed to have the local Catholic parish priest a few steps up the sidewalk from us.
Browse our website, interact with us on social media, and see if we might be able to assist you as we together, Seek the Holy!
